Dr. Owen Gingerich and Dr. Charles H. Townes gave a lunch presentation for a preview of their Thursday evening Trotter lectures.
Both speakers explore the crossroads of science and religion. Dr. Owen Gingerich, Professor Emeritus of Astronomy and the History of Science at Harvard University, spoke on “The Divine Handiwork: Evolution and the Wonder of Life,” presenting the Bible and the origin of humanity as central issues in understanding and accepting evolution’s role in the natural world. Dr. Charles H. Townes, a 1964 Nobel Prize winner in physics and 2005 Templeton Prize recipient, spoke on “The Parallelism and Likely Eventual Convergence of Science and Religion,” exploring the parallel paths of science and religion and the likelihood of their future merger.

Speaker: Randy Newman. Topic: Engaging People's Hearts the Way
Jesus Did.
Randy Newman speaks weekly at the Pentagon for Campus Crusade's
Christian Embassy. Being raised Jewish, Randy has a unique,
rabbinical outlook on evangelism. In his book, Questioning
Evangelism, he asks: "Isn't it amazing how often Jesus answered
people's questions with a question?

Dr. Hugh Ross: "New Scientific Evidences for the Existence
of God" - 7 pm Rudder Auditorium.
Dr. Ross is an internationally renowned astronomer. He is the
president and founder of Reason to Believe and hosts “Creation
Update,” a Web broadcast. His books include: The Fingerprint of
God, The Creator and the Cosmos, and The Genesis Question.
Gaines West: "Legal Rights of
Expressing Faith in a Public Institution" - 4-5:30 pm Stark

Mr. West is a partner at the law firm of West, Webb, Allbritton
& Gentry, P.C. and served in the JAGC of the United States Navy
Reserve for 16 years.
Dr. Charles Futrell: "How Faith
Relates to Your Class, Research, and Textbooks" - 12:30-1:45 pm,
Wehner Bldg. Cocanougher Center. Dr. Futrell is the Federated
Professor of Marketing at TAMU. As a successful researcher and
author, his textbooks are used at hundreds of schools.

Dr. C. Stephen Evans: "Moral Relativism: Are There Moral
Absolutes?" - 7 pm Rudder Theatre.

Cocanougher Center.
Dr. Evans has a doctorate in philosophy from Yale University and
has studied Kierkegaard as a Marshall Fellow in Denmark. His
books include: Faith Beyond Reason, The Historical Christ and
the Jesus of Faith, and Passionate Reason: Making Sense of
Kierkegaard's Philosophical Fragments. Dr. Evans is a Professor
of Philosophy and Humanities at Baylor University.

Gabe Allen: "Governmental

Feb 14 -- Dr. Eleanor Stump
"Job and the Problem of Evil" - Rudder Theater 7 pm.
Dr. Stump is a Professor of Philosophy at Saint Louis
University. She is the author of Aquinas in the series
"Arguments of the Philosophers." In 2003, Dr. Stump gave the
Gifford Lectures. She is past president of the Society of
Christian Philosophers.
Feb 15 -- Dr. Michael Behe

"Intelligent Design" - Rudder Auditorium 7 pm.
Dr. Behe is a Professor of Biochemistry at Lehigh University and
author of Darwin's Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to
Evolution. Dr. Cassone is the Department Head of Biology at TAMU
and a University Faculty Fellow. He is an expert on biological
clocks in organisms.

Feb 16 -- Dr. L. Murphy
Smith
"Can you run the rat race with integrity?" Rudder 510,
4-5:30 pm.
Dr. L. Murphy Smith is a professor of accounting. His ethics
presentation is designed to foster a deeper appreciation for the
role of ethics in business and society. In 2003 Dr. Smith served
on the Ethics Task Force of the Texas State Board of Public
Accountancy. In July 2002 he testified at a Congressional
Hearing in Washington, D.C. regarding business and accounting
ethics.

Rick Green's evening presentation provides an overview of
America's godly heritage. Rick Green is a former Texas State
Representative, a lawyer, entrepreneur, and currently works with
David Barton and WallBuilders Presentations, Inc. Rick travels
the nation speaking as a passionate advocate of returning to the
principles of the Declaration of Independence.
